Transparent technology, particularly TVs, was a major theme throughout CES 2024, which is now over. Samsung displayed its transparent microLED display, and LG unveiled a transparent OLED TV that is wireless.
But it appears that Lenovo may be entering the see-through fray at the end of February’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), where there are rumors that the company may introduce the first transparent laptop ever.
Two weeks before the major tech event in Barcelona, Spain, WindowsReport has obtained images of what it claims the laptop might look like.
The pictures appear to show an ordinary old laptop at first glance, but closer examination reveals that the display appears to be completely `clear} when turned off.
There are no bezels around the display, and the laptop’s hinge area appears to be see-through as well. The keyboard has been replaced with what appears to be a clear glass touchscreen and virtual keys rather than actual ones.
Given that the technology underlying transparent displays is typically highly expensive to produce, we can assume that this transparent Lenovo laptop will be quite expensive if it is released for sale.
Lenovo has a lot to prove, especially since it intends to charge a premium, to show that this possible design is more than just a gimmick and that purchasing a transparent laptop is worthwhile.
