On February 14, 2024, there was a celebration in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, when the police arrested a woman and reunited two kidnapped children with their parents.
The children, who were both students at Divine Grace Academy, were abducted on January 22, 2024, at Nwezenyi junction in Ndiokpoto village, Igbeagu community in the state’s Izzi Local Government Area, by a woman posing as a NYSC volunteer.
On Sunday, January 4, 2024, Ngozi Nwibo, a seven-year-old victim of abduction, was freed from captivity at Oba in the Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State. The female abductor was apprehended and taken to the Ebonyi State Police Command.
After making a confessional statement, she was brought to Lagos State, where the woman who had purchased her managed to avoid arrest while the second victim, 3-year-old Chinamaza Nwachukwu, was also saved.
Chinaza’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Nwachukwu, spoke at his home when friends, family, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate with them. Their joy knew no limits as they expressed their gratitude to God for saving their kidnapped daughter.
The couple acknowledged that they had to spend a significant sum of money on the police investigation and their daughter’s recovery, but they insisted that nothing could be more valuable than their child’s life.
