A gang of masked gunmen opened fire outside of a party in King City, California, killing four people.
The King City Police Department was notified of gunfire at the 200 block of North 2nd Street at approximately six of the clock on Sunday, according to a statement released by the department on Monday.
Three men who had been shot in the front yard of the house were discovered by the responding officers. At the scene, all three were pronounced dead.
There were a few more people who had been shot. One of them, an adult woman, was taken by someone else to Mee Memorial Hospital, where it was determined that she had passed away.
The other three who were injured, all males, were taken to Natividad Hospital in Salinas for medical treatment. Police said that there was a party happening at the residence at the time of the incident, with several people in the front yard.
The suspects, who were wearing dark-coloured masks and dark-coloured clothing, returned to the vehicle and fled the scene. These masked men have not been identified, and the investigation is still ongoing.
Police have warned that these suspects are considered armed and dangerous. If a member of the public sees them or the vehicle, they should not attempt to contact them; instead, they should call 911.
In a Facebook post, Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez, District 3, said, “As we await details on tonight’s events in King City, please send prayers and healing energy to our community.”
“May the victims find strength and healing, may our first responders remain safe, and may we all help restore peace to our neighbourhoods and communities,” he added.
