In Kuriga village, in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area, a group of terrorists have abducted no fewer than 232 students and teachers.
In a post on his X platform on Thursday, former Kaduna senator Shehu Sani confirmed the incident and mentioned that it took place in the same village where Idris Sufyan, the principal of the school, was killed and his wife was abducted more than a month prior.
‘’It’s tragic to hear that 232 students have just been kidnapped in Kuriga village, Chikun LG, in Kaduna State.
It is the same village where Idris Sufyan, the principal of the school, was killed and his wife was abducted more than a month ago. However, I’m optimistic their freedom will be secured,’’ he said.
Concerns about insecurity forced the junior and secondary schools to move from their previous building outside the town to the school building inside Kuriga town a few years ago.
However, Mansir Hassan (ASP), the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), verified the incident to the news media while pointing out that the precise number of victims who were taken hostage was still unknown.
“Yes, there was a kidnapping; more security personnel have been sent into the bush to save the victims.”
“Every security agency in the state, including the police, military, vigilantes, and others, has joined forces and is currently actively working in the bush to rescue the victims,” he continued.
