Wa Power Sporting Club launched an attack on Steadfast FC Tamale following their 2-1 home loss in the Division One League match at the Malik Jabir Stadium.
Haruna Iddrisu, the team’s owner, may take strong action in response to the incident because what the Wa Power SC did was inappropriate and in this day and age of football, it cannot be accepted.
Sources say that because fans are stoning the players and match officials in the middle of the field, the Steadfast FC players and management are unable to leave.
The statement from Steadfast FC reads,
We are currently trapped at the Malik Jabir Stadium. Fans Stoning us in the field. Our safety is important. Security services should kindly assist us leave the field.
One player was struck by a large stone, and the management of Steadsaft FC reports that he is currently on medication.
