Despite the absence of some of his team’s strongest legs, Ghana coach Otto Addo expressed confidence in his team’s chances of winning against Nigeria.
Nigeria and Ghana, two fierce rivals, will face off in an international friendly on Friday in Marrakech. Due to frequent comparisons between the two nations’ cultures, entertainment industries, and other domains, the match has always been fierce.
Nigeria’s temporary coach, Finidi George, called up 26 players before the match. Stars like Tyrone Ebuehi, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Victor Osimhen, however, were all forced to withdraw due to injuries.
Due to the absence of their star player Mohammed Kudus, Ghana is also having issues. Also, Arsenal star Thomas Partey, who recently returned from a long injury lay-off was excluded, Joseph Paintsil was left out because he just changed clubs, and Inaki Williams was not selected because he wanted to rest.
The Black Stars still have some strong players like Tariq Lamptey, Denis Odoi, Jordan Ayew, and Antoine Semenyo, despite these absences.
Coach Addo expressed his faith in his team before the match. Additionally, he thinks that other players’ talents will be shown off by their absences.
“It’s a pity that we don’t have some of our players. Surely, we would always want to go with our strongest squad when we play against Nigeria. But for me, I am always looking for opportunities, and it is an opportunity for each and every new player in the squad to show himself,” Addo said.
“I’m not thinking about who could be here and who could help us. I am looking at the reality, and this is a squad with a lot of experienced players but also a lot of young players, who are on their way up and can show me and themselves what level and stage they can play.”
Because Semenyo is playing at his best level for Bournemouth, coach Finidi has to be cautious of the threat Ghana poses, particularly in the final third.
The eagerly awaited game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 local time in Ghana.
