A shocking confession has been made by English singer-songwriter Edward Christopher Sheeran, better known by his stage name Ed Sheeran.
He revealed that Rihanna was the inspiration behind his breakthrough single, “Shape of You.” He revealed this during a recent interview with Hits Radio.
“Rihanna is genre-less, she can do anything. She’s the grail for songwriters. When I wrote Shape of You, the person I was writing in my mind for was Rihanna,” Sheeran stated.
On January 6, 2017, Ed Sheeran released ‘Shape Of You’ as one of the lead singles from his third studio album, ‘Divide.’
At the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, the song won the Best Pop Solo Performance category.
According to Ed Sheeran, he also wrote the hit song “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber. According to him, multiple musicians initially turned down the song.
