Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford has spoken on his conduct during his team’s Ghana Premier League match against Bechem United, where he sent a chair to sit in the middle of the pitch.
Bashir Hayford appeared to be upset about a variety of things during the pivotal match, including fan misbehavior, which led him to stop play until order was restored.
βThe fans were hurling urine and insulting me and the players. We had to defend ourselves so we ran to the pitch but to be honest, I really replied them. In my 30-year fan of the game, I had never seen anything like this before. It was more like a war and not a football match,β Hayford explained as quoted by Akoma Sports.
The game resumed after the seasoned coach eventually departed the field, despite the disruption.
Heart of Lions languish in 17th place, just above Real Tamale United, while Bechem United is sixth on the table with 40 points.
The newly promoted team has 29 points after 28 games played, making them the team with the fewest wins (6).
