American musician and songwriter Stevie Wonder has been granted Ghanaian citizenship by President Akufo-Addo. With his family currently in Ghana, Stevie Wonder will be dual citizen of the United States and Ghana.
The 74-year-old American music legend, who is visiting the nation with his family, will be able to claim both his Ghanaian and American citizenships.
Mr. Wonder expressed his happiness at the honor bestowed upon him during a small ceremony held at the Jubilee House. Stevie Wonder declared in 2021 that he was going to move to Ghana permanently.
Known in real life as Stevland Hardaway Morris, musicians from a variety of genres, including R&B, pop, soul, gospel, funk, and jazz, acknowledge Stevie Wonder as a pioneer and inspiration.
