Kennedy Agyepong, the founder of Kenpong Football Academy, has revealed a significant development for his organization: former President John Agyekum Kufuor has consented to become a patron.
President Kufuor declined an invitation to serve as board chairman in favor of the patron position, stating his support in a letter dated June 4, 2024.
In his letter, President Kufuor praised Agyepong, also known as Kenpong, for taking the bold initiative to found the academy, which aims to further Ghanaian football development.
I am honored that the academy has chosen to designate me as its Board Chairman. While being affiliated with the Kenpong Football Academy will be an honor, President Kufuor preferred to act as a patron of the organization.
It is anticipated that President Kufuor will use his broad experience, clout, and standing as a patron to improve the Kenpong Football Academy’s standing and rapid expansion.
Kennedy Agyepong expressed his appreciation by saying, “I am humbled and honored by President Kufuor’s choice to associate with our academy.”
His participation will significantly improve our recognition and image while also posing a huge responsibility for us. The whole team is committed to upholding the high standards he represents. We cannot let him down.”
Agyepong emphasized his attempts to form international alliances for the academy, citing agreements he had signed with Sonderjyske Football Club in Denmark and Bastia Football Club in France.
He emphasized that President Kufuor’s association would further enhance these initiatives. The esteemed statesman known as President Kufuor presided over Ghana from January 2001 to January 2009 and chaired the African Union from January 2007 to January 2008.
In addition, he has served as a minister, a member of parliament, and the city of Kumasi’s legal officer throughout his career. Modern amenities are available at the Kenpong Football Academy, which has its headquarters in Winneba. These include a top-notch field, swimming pools, gyms, studios, and dorms for players and staff.
To help young players reach American and European standards, the academy has also hired a foreign coach.
Under the patronage of President Kufuor, the Kenpong Football Academy is poised to achieve unprecedented success in fostering football talent and advancing the sport’s advancement in Ghana.
