Following a tragic boat accident on the Oti River in Dambai, Krachi East Municipality on June 11, 2024, two people are still missing, including a pregnant woman.
The incident happened when a boat carrying ten people from the Dambai market capsized while crossing a river to the fishing village of Ingyari.
Following the event, a four-year-old girl was declared deceased. The pregnant woman’s family, meanwhile, is horrified by the news and worries for the unborn child’s safety as well as her own.
Seven of the passengers have been rescued, according to Jacob Desiavour, the National Disaster Management Organization officer (NADMO) for Krachi East.
To ensure the effectiveness of the rescue team, NADMO has asked the locals to continue volunteering information. The director of NADMO stated that to aid in the rescue, they worked together with the Assembly and the nearby Navy personnel.
He claims that while efforts are being made to find the missing people, the difficult search is being hampered by the unforgiving river conditions and the rain.
On the other hand, the families of those who are missing are waiting impatiently for any updates regarding their loved ones. The victims and casualties were sent to the Dambai Health Centre for medical attention.
