The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifications is slated to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on July 4, 2024.
The Black Stars and Ghana will find out who their opponents are after the draw.
48 countries will compete in the draw, including South Sudan, Chad, Liberia, and Eswatinia, the four winners of the preliminary round.
These teams will compete for a position in the coveted competition by being divided into 12 groups of four. The defending African champions Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, DR Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, and Ethiopia are among the countries confirmed for the draw.
The following countries are also taking part: South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe; Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Senegal, North Korea, and Zimbabwe.
The groups for the qualifiers that are set to start in September 2024 will be decided by a draw that will take place at SuperSport Studios in South Africa at 12:30 GMT. The 24 countries that will compete in the AFCON 2025 in Morocco will be determined by this phase.
