Former Hearts of Oak Chairman Harry Zakour has once again expressed his disappointment with the club’s recent struggles, attributing them to a lack of managerial competence.
Hearts of Oak, a powerhouse in African football, narrowly avoided relegation in the just-concluded Ghana Premier League season.
The Ghanaian club needed a win against Bechem United to maintain their top-flight status.
In an interview with Accra-based radio station Happy FM, Zakour asserted that the current board members lack the necessary football expertise to effectively manage the club.
He added that Togbe Afede, the club’s current executive board chairman, has good intentions but requires the right people around him.
“Togbe Afede means well but he needs the right people to be able to run the club and take it to higher heights”.
He emphasized that the club’s problems stem from poor management rather than the technical team. Zakour noted that the constant sacking of coaches has not led to any significant improvement in the team’s performance.
“Hearts of Oak’s problem is the management and not the technical team. They have sacked coaches always but the result doesn’t change” he said.
Harry Zakour led Accra Heart of Oak to achieve numerous successes including the CAF Champions League, FA Cup, GPL titles and etc.
