The Ghana Football Association has launched a bidding process for official television broadcast rights holders to submit bids following the termination of the partnership deal with StarTimes.
The deal with StarTimes lasted for four years with exclusive rights under a $5.25 million deal inked in 2020.
Notwithstanding the amicable parting agreement between the parties, the reasons for the contract termination are still unknown. Premier League and FA Cup matches were among the big football matches in Ghana that StarTimes covered. Additionally, they created highlights of games from the Women’s Premier League, Division One League, and Women’s FA Cup games.
The GFA is now ready to accept proposals for the contract from interested broadcasters, including as GTV and DSTV. A media partner now has a chance to provide a larger audience to Ghana’s top domestic football championships.
The GFA’s intention is to investigate cutting-edge broadcasting agreements that can raise Ghanaian football’s profile and accessibility on a national and worldwide scale is reflected in the bidding process.
