Samsung unveiled four new Google features at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event, designed for their latest devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip6, Z Fold6, and the newest Galaxy Watches. Here are the features:
1. Circle to Search on the new Galaxy Z Series
Earlier this year, we announced Circle to Search, an easy way to search on your Android device without switching apps. Since then, we’ve added translation capabilities and homework help for a range of physics and math problems. Starting later this month, Circle to Search will help you learn more complex topics like symbolic math and scan barcodes and QR codes on your screen.
Circle to Search is also supported on tablets and foldables, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Flip6, and will come to more Samsung devices later this year.
2. Get suggestions from Gemini based on what’s on your screen
The Gemini app on Android transforms your phone into a powerful, personal AI assistant. It empowers you to explore the world around you, discover the perfect words, and generate images effortlessly. Thanks to its deep integration with Google apps, Gemini seamlessly extends its capabilities to Gmail, Docs, Maps, Drive, and more.
Coming soon, the Galaxy Z series will leverage Gemini to provide contextually relevant suggestions directly on your screen. With a simple swipe or a “Hey Google” command, you can access Gemini. For example, while watching a YouTube video, you’ll see a suggestion to “Ask about this video.”
The large display of the Galaxy Z Fold6 is particularly advantageous for multitasking. Shortly, you’ll be able to utilize Gemini’s overlay while watching a video, enabling a split-screen experience.
The Gemini app is currently accessible in 29 languages across over 200 countries. The Galaxy series updates incorporating these features are scheduled for release in the coming months.
3. Try Wear OS 5 on the new Galaxy Watches
At I/O, we shared how Wear OS 5 brings improved performance and battery life. Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch lineup, including the Watch Ultra and Watch7, will be the first smartwatches powered by Wear OS 5. They’re the perfect companion for when you’re on the go: These smartwatches offer advanced health monitoring capabilities, including heart rate tracking and sleep monitoring, and a personalized health experience, as well as access to a wide range of apps in Google Play.
4. Watch YouTube TV in a multiview
The Galaxy Z Fold6 will offer YouTube TV subscribers a unique multi-view experience. This allows viewers to watch up to four different streams simultaneously, including selections like football, news, weather, and multiple sporting events.
We’re dedicated to collaborating with Samsung to ensure Galaxy devices, including smartphones, wearables, and upcoming technologies such as the XR platform, have access to the latest Google updates.
