Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated Accra Hearts Of Oak in a three goal thrilled as they won by 2 goals to 1 in the democracy cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The game which was played to commemorate 30 years of Parliamentary democracy in Ghana saw both teams play their hearts and soul out in an end to end action.
Prior to that game, there was a curtain raiser between Parliamentarians and former Black Stars players with the former beating the latter 3-1.
The game between Hearts Of Oak and Kotoko was one of the best in terms of quality and competitiveness considering their last few meetings.
The first goal of the game was netted by Kotoko’s Justice Blay on the 30th minute with a penalty kick.
Hearts Of Oak equalized a few minutes into the second half but Kotoko eventually grabbed all three points as a blustering strike from Amidu Peter Acquah on the 62 minute went past Heart Of Oak’s goalkeeper.
The game paints a picture of what lies ahead in the upcoming season especially for Kotoko as they have beaten their arch rivals three times in a row. Hearts Of Oak on the other hand have shown prospects of being a force to reckon with.
The new signings of both clubs also add to the beauty of this rivalry as they did not disappoint and more will be expected from them in the upcoming regular season.
