The Black Princesses have been urged by Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku to get past the group stage of the forthcoming 2024 Women’s U-20 World Cup.
The Black Princesses, playing in their seventh World Cup in a row. Austria, Japan, and New Zealand make up Group E, which Yusif Basigi and his team have been assigned to.
The Black Princesses have not progressed past the group stage in the last six seasons, which is indicative of their lacklustre performance in previous years.
The Black Princesses have only triumphed in three of their twelve World Cup games between 2014 and 2022.
The FA President has decided to warn the girls ahead of the games in response to these performances.
President Kurt Okraku urged the playing body to put in their all to make sure they outperform the previous six editions during a news conference in Sunyani.
“On the sixth consecutive time that we’ve been to the World Cup, we’ve not gone beyond the group stages. “This year, the vision is very clear, we’re going to the competition and we must better our performances. We’ve given the team all the support that they need, we believe they are a good team, we believe that the technical team are well on course to deliver” the GFA President stated.
The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2024 will begin on Saturday, August 31, and end on Sunday, September 22, in Colombia.
On Monday, September 2, the Black Princesses will play their first match against Austria. After that, they will play Japan and New Zealand.
