The 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season promises to be another thrilling spectacle, with a host of talented teams vying for the coveted title.

KEY CONTENDERS
Defending Champions: FC Samartex 1996 will be aiming to retain their title and cement their status as a force to be reckoned with in Ghanaian football.
Traditional Powerhouses: Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak remain perennial contenders and will be looking to reclaim their former glory.
Rising Stars: Teams like Dreams FC and Medeama SC, have shown significant promise in recent seasons and will be eager to make their mark on the league. The two clubs represented Ghana I’m the CAF Confederations Cup and CAF Champions League respectively last season. Having made some changes in their squads they stand a chance of winning the league.
TITLE DEFENCE RECORDS
No club has been able to defend their league title in the previous four seasons. Hearts of Oak claimed the GPL trophy in the 2020/2021 season ahead of Asante Kotoko who won it in the 2021/2022 season.
In the 2022/2023 season, Medeama SC emerged victorious, however in the 2023/2024 season, FC Samartex 1996, emerged champions.
Asante Kotoko is the last team holding the record for 3 successful and consecutive title defences having done it in 2012, 2013, and 2014 and they stand as huge favorites to win the league.
NEW FACES
The league will also feature several new faces, including newly promoted sides like Basake Holy Stars, Vision FC and Young Apostles who have all appointed top Coaches for the upcoming campaign. Basake Holy Stars has Abdulai Gazale, Vision FC has Nana Agyemang, and Young Apostles has Joseph Asare Badiako, a former coach at Hearts of Oak and Aduana FC.
