According to the Ghana Education Service, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, basic school students nationwide will resume their studies as the 2024/2025 academic year gets underway.
Unlike in the past, first cycle students are now formally starting the academic year in September for the first time since COVID-19.
Following two years of using a transitional calendar in which the school year stretched from January to December, the Ghana Education Service (GES) started the process last year, with the commencement of classes on October 3, 2023, to resume using the previous calendar.
The Ghana Education Service has also stated that classes for first-year senior high school pupils in the 2024/2025 academic year will resume on Friday, September 27, 2024.
This is addressed to the recent junior high school graduates who participated in the most recent BECE exams this year.
Parents and school heads were advised to take note and make appropriate preparations in a letter dated July 15, 2024, addressed to all regional directors of education and signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, the acting director for the Schools and Instructions Division on behalf of the Director General of the GES.
Furthermore, the GES announced that Friday, December 6, 2024, will be the students’ vacation day.
