Dr. Randy Abbey, a member of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Council, has expressed reservations about Kwesi Appiah’s dual roles as Sudan’s head coach and Executive Council member.
Appiah, elected to the Executive Council on behalf of Asante Kotoko, recently took on the post of head coach for the Sudanese national team.
The football world has discussed this dual obligation, with many doubting his ability to handle both positions well without any conflict of interest especially with Ghana playing against Sudan in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.
Abbey, meanwhile, has called the arrangement “untidy,” drawing attention to the difficulties of juggling multiple positions and the possible conflict of interest.
In a Metro TV appearance, Abbey said, “Kwesi Appiah has not participated in any meetings since the AFCON draw.” “It’s likely that he’s keeping himself out of the conversation because he knows it will involve games.”
Abbey said, “It’s an untidy situation, but we must do everything possible to win that game,” to highlight how crucial it is to defeat Sudan. We need to win those three points against Sudan in Accra because we know what happens if we don’t win.
Later this week, Ghana’s coach Otto Addo is anticipated to announce his team for the games.
