UEFA has officially opened an investigation into suspended Premier League referee David Coote after a video allegedly showed him snorting a white powder while on duty at Euro 2024.
The Premier League’s refereeing body has said it is aware of footage allegedly showing David Coote sniffing white powder.
Coote was suspended by PGMOL on Monday after a leaked online video showed him making derogatory comments about Liverpool, calling the club “s***” and referring to former manager Jurgen Klopp as a “German.
In an eight-second WhatsApp clip obtained by *The Sun*, Coote appears to roll up a U.S. banknote and use it to snort a white substance. *The Sun* reports that the video was taken on July 6, the day after Coote served as a support VAR official for France’s quarter-final win over Portugal.
A PGMOL spokesperson stated, “We are aware of the allegations and are taking them very seriously. David Coote remains suspended pending a full investigation.
David’s welfare remains our priority, and we are committed to providing him with ongoing support during this period. We are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
