The high court has issued an injunction ordering the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) Workers’ Union to end their ongoing strike. The union had embarked on industrial action regarding issues with the Ghana Labour Commission who are the applicants.
The application sought to prevent the Association from continuing its industrial strike action, which began on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
The court’s decision comes as a setback for the union. However, the legal intervention means they have to suspend their strike and return to work.
“It is hereby ordered that the Respondents, whether by their executives, officers, members, agents, servants, employees, or other persons, are restrained from further continuation of the industrial strike action commenced on November 12, 2024,” the court stated.
The ongoing dispute between the GHA and its workers highlights the need for effective communication and negotiation to resolve labor disputes.
