Earlier today, I joined the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in commissioning the Obetsebi-Lamptey Interchange Phase 2, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in critical areas of Accra. This comes after Phase 1 of the interchange was commissioned in 2020 by President Akufo-Addo.
The 3-tier interchange also features a 389-meter bridge, providing a direct link for traffic on Ring Road West across the Obetsebi Lamptey Circle. This bridge descends prior to the Abossey Okai traffic lights, ensuring seamless movement for commuters and effectively eliminating delays caused by cross-traffic.
The interchange will provide significant relief to commuters and stimulate economic activities by enhancing connectivity between major business hubs such as Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Kaneshie, Korle-Bu, Abossey Okai, and Graphic Road, among others.
It also comprises a Flyover on the Ring Road West (Awudome to Central Mosque at Abbosey Okai), widening of the Ring Road West (from Awudome Junction to Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange) into a 2 x 3 dual carriageway and an improvement of the Awudome Road and Nii Teiko Din Street.
