President-elect John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a series of key appointments to the Office of the President as he prepares to assume office. The appointments, which take effect from Tuesday, January 7, 2025, are expected to set the tone for his administration’s operations.
In a statement issued by the Office of the President-elect, Mr. Julius Debrah has been named as Chief of Staff. Mr. Debrah, a seasoned politician and administrator, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the role of managing the President’s office.
Dr. Callistus Mahama has been appointed Executive Secretary to the President, while Mr. Prosper Douglas Bani will head the Interim Security Taskforce, signaling a strong focus on national security.
Dr. Valerie Sawyer has been designated as Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs. She will be joined by Mr. Augustus Goosie Tanoh, who takes up the role of Presidential Advisor responsible for 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development.
The legal affairs of the presidency will be handled by Mrs. Marietta Appiah Brew, who has been appointed Legal Counsel to the President of Ghana.
Lastly, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu has been named Acting Spokesperson to the President, ensuring effective communication between the presidency and the public.
