President John Dramani Mahama has announced a series of key appointments to bolster Ghana’s national security apparatus. The appointments, announced on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, bring experienced individuals into crucial roles within the security establishment.
Prosper Douglas Bani, former Chief of Staff and Minister for the Interior, has been appointed as the National Security Advisor to the President. Bani’s extensive background in government and security matters is expected to provide valuable expertise in advising the President on national security issues.
DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak will take on the role of National Security Coordinator. He will be responsible for ensuring a cohesive and coordinated strategy across all national security initiatives.
Retired COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has been appointed as the Director of Operations at the Presidency. His role will focus on overseeing operational effectiveness in security matters, streamlining processes and ensuring efficient responses to security challenges.
Charles Kipo has been named as the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau. He will lead the intelligence agency in gathering and analyzing information relevant to national security.
These appointments underscore President Mahama’s commitment to prioritizing national security and ensuring the safety and well-being of Ghanaian citizens.
