Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has reportedly made contact with Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy, encouraging him to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria.
Murphy, who featured for England at youth level, qualifies to represent Nigeria through his father. Despite being 29, he has yet to earn a senior cap, making him a viable option for the Super Eagles.
With Nigeria gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Chelle is keen on reinforcing his squad with experienced talent.
Murphy has represented England at various level and he is of Irish descent through his mother and of Nigerian origin through his father. He is yet to be capped by any of the above nation at senior level.
