President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has been elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), marking a significant milestone in his career and Ghana’s football administration.
In a heartfelt statement following his election, Okraku expressed deep gratitude and humility, acknowledging the support and encouragement he received from various stakeholders, including the Government of Ghana, led by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude and humility as I extend my sincerest appreciation to His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, and his Government for the unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement throughout this journey,” he stated.
He also extended his appreciation to Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, whose immense support played a crucial role in his election success. Okraku recognized the dedication and prayers of his colleagues on the GFA Executive Council, as well as the hard work and commitment of the GFA staff, whom he credited as key contributors to his achievement.
“This accomplishment is as much yours as it is mine,” he noted, acknowledging the collective effort of the Ghanaian football community.
Kurt Okraku pledged his unwavering dedication to the advancement of African football, emphasizing his readiness to collaborate with fellow executives across the West African Football Union (WAFU) and CAF.
“To the members of the Executive Committee of WAFU, Presidents of WAFU B, and all members of WAFU and CAF, I thank you for your trust and confidence in me. I look forward to working closely with each of you to develop and promote African football,” he said.
The GFA President also acknowledged the steadfast support from his family and the entire football fraternity in Ghana and across Africa. He affirmed his loyalty to the leadership of CAF and FIFA, vowing to work tirelessly to strengthen the sport across the continent.
“I am honoured to serve Ghana, WAFU, and CAF, and I pledge to work tirelessly to promote the development of African football and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the game across the continent,” Okraku reiterated.
