President Akufo-Addo has said former president late Jerry John Rawlings deserves a befitting state burial devoid of violence.
According to President Akufo-Addo, the obligation of his government to accord the former president a befitting state burial is inviolable since Rawlings has paid his dues to the peace that the country is enjoying.[ads2]
Rawlings died on November 12, 2020 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after battling an illness and since his demise his families have been bickering on the date for the final funeral service.[ads3]
But a statement from the Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has directed the families of the late president to resolve all the outstanding issues before a final date is convey to the office of the president for the burial.
