President of New Edubiase Football Club Abdul Salam Yakubu has launched an attack on the ruling government, saying they have betrayed the former Ghana Football Association boss Kwesi Nyantakyi.
According to the outspoken football administrator, the current government have betrayed the Kwesi Nyantakyi after forcing him to seek re-election.
He revealed that Kwesi Nyantakyi was forced by the cabinet of theĀ ruling government to stay on as the Ghana Football Association president after he has publicly declared his intentions of stepping down.
The former CAF first vice President resigned from all his roles both in CAF and FIFA after he was captured in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas expose engaging in corrupt practices.
However, Abdul Salam Yakubu continued that the government even promised Kwesi Nyantakyi to fund his campaign for the 2019 GFA general elections.
“This government asked Nyantakyi to go for re-election. He told me and I believe him,” he fumed on Accra-based Asempa FM
“They promised to support him financially. He didn’t want to go again and wanted to introduce somebody.
“But the cabinet told him to contest again. They were supporting Nyantakyi from day one. They supported when Black Stars bonuses were reduced.
“Ghanaians made so much noise. We are envious people. We sabotaged him and also succeeded in reducing Black Stars bonuses.
“Kwesi is a good friend of the current sports minister. He cant tell me they didn’t support him. They have stabbed him in the back.”
