Andre Dede Ayew has been named the new Black Stars captain for the AFCON 2019 in Egypt next month.
The 29-year old was named the team captain for the Black Stars after the role was stripped off from Asamoah Gyan by the head coach, Kwesi Appiah.
With Dede Ayew handed the new role, Asamoah Gyan has been assigned as the general captain of the Black Stars for the 32nd edition of the prestigious tournament on the African continent.
Kwadwo Asamoah, who plays his professional football in the Italian Serie A for Inter Milan, has been assigned as the deputy captain to Dede Ayew.
Meanwhile, coach Kwesi Appiah has unleashed his 29-member squad for a PRE-AFCON camping in Dubai with Ghana to engage in two friendlies with South Africa and Namibia before pruning down the squad to 23 for the tournament.
