The Confederation of African Football has officially announced that Morocco will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations from July 23 to August 21.
The competition will take place in Morocco after the Club World Cup, which is set for June 15–July 13, 2025.
The decision comes after lengthy negotiations between the Moroccan Football Federation, CAF and FIFA.
The 2025 AFCON will take place in the summer, in contrast to the 2021 and 2023 games, which were hosted in January and February, respectively, in Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire because of the rainy weather in West African nations in June and July.
This is in line with the example that the Egypt 2019 event set.
The preliminary round draw will come off today Tuesday February 20 at 12 p.m in Morocco. The eight African teams with the lowest rankings will face off for a spot in the following qualification round.
