Former President, John Dramani Mahama has entreated President Akufo-Addo to as soon as possible take measures to combat the recent spark of violence in the country.
This comes following the violence at Ejura in the Ashanti Region where two people were shot dead with several injured when the residents clashed with some security personnel.[ads2]
Not only the Ejura incidents did the former president touched on, but also the fixthecountry campaigner that died after mob attack on Monday.
According to Mr. Mahama, President Akufo-Addo must initiate an immediate de-escalation of the situation in Ejura and a thorough investigations must also be conducted on the incidents to ascertain the cause.[ads3]
“I add my voice to calls for calm following the shooting to death of two persons and the injury to many in Ejura today, following the murder of youth activist Ibrahim ‘Kaaka’ Mohammed. I have just seen a video of the firing of live ammunition into a crowd by persons wearing military attire, after the burial of the murdered youth activist”, Mr. Mahama said.[ads4]
” I urgently call on President Nana Akufo-Addo to initiate an immediate de-escalation of the situation in Ejura. There must be a very thorough investigation of both the murder of the youth activist and the security rules of engagement, which resulted in the shooting to death of the two others.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and the Ejura community” he added..[ads5]
