President Akufo-Addo has suspended the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Abdul Mumin Issah for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Mr. Mumin Issah was arrested by the police after verbally assaulting a police officer and driving carelessly on February 2, 2022.
According to the police, the MCE who was driving a Toyota Land cruiser is alleged to have driven carelessly and dangerously while approaching a police snap checkpoint at the Kwesimintsim cemetery on Wednesday, January 2, 2022.[ads2]
A police officer who was on duty attempted to stop him, but the MCE verbally assaulted and threatened the officer.

But a release from the Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development indicate that Mr. Abdul Mumin Issah has been suspended with immediate effect pending an enquiry into the matter.[ads3]
In his absence, the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has been tasked to take over as the MCE while Mr. Mumin Issah face the police.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mumin Issah has been charged on three counts of assault of a police officer, offensive conduct conducive to the breaches of peace and disturbing the peace in a public place contrary to sections 205, 208 and 298 respectively of the Criminal and Other Offences Act of 1960, Act 29.[ads4]
The MCE has also been charged for dangerous driving contrary to Section 1 of Act 683 of 2004 as amended by Act 761 of 2008.
