The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that President Akufo-Addo will be meeting the cabinet on the possible reopening of schools in January, 2021.
Schools have been shut down since March this year following the outbreak of the devastating coronavirus.[ads2]
Despite the outbreak of the disease, the government of Ghana granted permission for final year students to complete the academic year with all Coronavirus protocols fully observed.
With the country recording lower active cases recently, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who double as the Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi has revealed that President Akufo-Addo will be meeting the cabinet on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 to determine the best way to reopen the schools.[ads3]
“President Akufo-Addo prepares to meet cabinet tomorrow for a final decision on the possible reopening of schools in January. Key on his agenda will be to examine the proposals for assuring the safety of our children, should schools reopen”, Oppong Nkrumah tweeted.[ads4]
He added that,”these decisions are not made lightly. But so far all his covid management decisions have been spot on. Fingers crossed, he will make the best decision in the interest of our children and our schools.”[ads5]
