Asante Kotoko has confirmed that forward Albert Amoah will be out of action for approximately two months after sustaining a partial tear of the anterior talofibular ligament in his right leg.
The injury occurred during Kotoko’s 1-1 draw against Medeama last week. Amoah missed the team’s FA Cup round-of-16 victory last Sunday and has been ruled out of the upcoming league clash against debutants Vision FC on Sunday afternoon.
Reacting to the setback, head coach Prosper Narteh expressed his concerns. “It’s unpleasant news losing him and Kotei at this busy stage of the season. I initially had chills when it happened during the game because Albert is naturally a strong boy, but the shout he made during the impact left me worried,” the coach stated.
Despite the disappointment, Prosper remains optimistic about Amoah’s recovery. “Injuries are part of the game, and we can just hope he recovers quickly, as he has shown with his previous injury,” he added.
Amoah’s absence is a significant blow to the Porcupine Warriors, who are already dealing with the loss of right-back Emmanuel Kotei due to an ACL injury. The team will need to dig deep into their squad depth to navigate this challenging phase of the season.
The club and its fans are rallying behind Amoah, hoping for a speedy and successful recovery.
