Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa secured a historic semi-final spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League with a decisive 3-1 victory against Huracanes in the last Group B encounter at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo on Sunday.
A brace by Tracy Twum and a late goal by Yanyimaya Gnabekan helped the Ghanaians to advance to the final four.
Head Coach of Ampem Darkoa stated in a post match interview that his first goal for the team has been achieved thus, to reach the semi-final stage.
“We achieved our first goal, which was to be in the semi-finals. Whatever happens, we will finish the competition with our heads held high. We are aware that the team we are going to meet is a strong team but, we will work hard to win the game.”Coach Joe Adarkwa said.
Ampem Darkoa not only advanced to the semi-finals, but they also won Group B with a superior goal differential than AS Far, the reigning champions, who also advanced to the next stage of the competition in San Pedro.
Ampem Darkoa will now take on Sporting Casablanca in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
