The three times Women’s Premier League Champions, Ampem-Darkowa Ladies Football Club, on Saturday, July 15th 2023 presented their trophy won in the just ended Malta Guinness Women’s Premier league to Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi at his residence.
Speaking on behalf of the football club, the CEO Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour of the club who doubles as the Mawerehene of Techiman Traditional Area said, the club decided to pay him courtesies as part of their tour to present the cup to some opinion leaders in the region who in one way or other supported them to win the trophy and also use such opportunity to call for more support in the next season.
He added that, as league champions, they are to represent the country in Africa Zonal league in Nigeria and for that matter they will need support and sponsorship to aid them qualify for African Championship.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, Board Chairman of Public Procurement Authority (PPA) and the Ahenema hene of Techiman Traditional Area appreciated their gesture and commended them for their hard work that has earned them the trophy. He urged them to continue that same effort they put up during the league and then perhaps increase it as they meet their counterparts from other countries in Nigeria.
The former Minister for Education, youth and Sports advised them take their training seriously and desist from indecent behaviours at camps. He presented an undisclosed amount to them and promised to support them in the upcoming zonals competition.
