Some former Black Stars players have visited the family of the late Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu who died as a result of the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey earlier this month.[ads2]
The players were Asamoah Gyan, Baffour Gyan, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Sulley Muntari, and Haminu Dramani.
They donated packs of water to the family as a form of support and signed a book of condolence opened in memory of the former Newcastle United talisman.[ads3]
Atsu was among the over 45,000 lives that were claimed by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Turkey.
The former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger was trapped under rubble for over eleven days before his passing.[ads4]
Before the unfortunate incident, Atsu was playing for Turkish side Hataysport and had scored his first goal for the club from a sumptuous free-kick hours before the earthquake.
Even though his body has arrived in Ghana, his family is yet to announce the date for Atsu’s final funeral rite.
Christian Atsu played 65 matches for Ghana, scoring nine goals during his career.[ads5]
