Two times African Cup of Nations winner, Herve Renard says Black Stars former captain, Asamoah Gyan couldn’t achieve bigger height in his career because he was lazy.
Renard – who has worked for the Black Stars in the past a deputy coach in charge of fitness added that the former Al Ain striker had the potential to reach higher standards if he was a bit more dedicate and committed in training before competitive games.

The AFCON winner with Cote D’Ivoire and Zambia was speaking to TV3’s Juliet Bawuah and added he admired the quality of the striker, but despises his work ethics.
“The quality of Asamoah Gyan was amazing. I was always impressed with his timing of headers. He was a very good goal scorer, a fantastic player, an amazing player. ”
“But I have something to tell him. He was supposed to have a better career, but he was lazy,” Renard said while laughing.

“In training, he was lazy. He only likes games. Simply he was the most important player but I know him and he didn’t like the training, he only likes the competition, the games,” he concluded.
The Frenchman worked with Ghana as a physical trainer in the 2008 before going on to win the 2012 and 2015 AFCON titles with Zambia and Cote D’Ivoire.
