Goals from Jordan Opoku and Martin Antwi propelled Asante Kotoko to a handsome 2:0 win against Division 2 side, Unicorn FC at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.
After a calm first 45 minutes, the experience second squad introduced by Coach Charles Akunnor stood tall with two quick goals.
Delightfully, Ismael Ganiyu seems to have caught the light already, featuring prominently in both the first and the second halves and serving a near best performance.
Asante Kotoko played the first half minutes with Muntari Tagoe, Amos Frimpong, Abdul Fatau, Agyemang Badu, Frederick Boateng, Umar Bashiru, Evans Owusu, Kwame Conte Bonsu, Maxwell Baako, Prince Acquah and Abdul Ishmael Ganiyu.
The second half saw a different eleven which include, Felix Annan, Augustine Sefah, Abdul Ganiyu, Abass Mohammed, Douglas Owusu Ansah, Daniel Nii Adjei, Jordan Opoku, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Obed Owusu and Martin Antwi.
Abdul Ganiyu was subtituted in the game for Agyeman Badu whereas Stephen Nyarko replaced the experienced Jordan Opoku and Kwame Boahen also coming on for Emmanuel Gyamfi.
The Porcupine Warriors will represent Ghana in the next season’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign as the holders of last season’s FA Cup.
Kotoko will play the winner of the Cameroon FA Cup winner on 28th November, 2018 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Confederation Cup prelims.
Meanwhile, the Kumasi based team will play another friendly with Medeama Sporting Club on Wednesday 14th November, 2018 at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.
