The Normalization Committee is to consider Kumasi Asante Kotoko 40% gate proceeds demand from their Special Competition semi-final clash against bitterest rival, Accra Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors petitioned the Normalization Committee to either choose a neutral ground for the Hearts of Oak duel instead of the Accra Sports Stadium or increase the mandated 30% share of the gate proceeds to 40%.
The Dr. Kofi Amoah led Normalization Committee rejected the offer by the Porcupines, stating categorically clear that, the venue for the semi-final clash remain unchanged with Kotoko to receive the 30% gate proceeds.
The statement from the Normalization Committee ‘annoyed’ the 2005 CAF Confederation Cup finalist, thus withdrawing from the tier one of the Special Competition.
But in an interview with Kumasi based Ashh FM, the Public Relations Officer for the Normalization Committee Organizing Committee, Mr. Kennedy Boakye Ansah stated that even though, the Committee is waiting for Asante Kotoko to rescind their decision before June 16, 2019, the Normalization Committee is only looking to deliberate on whether to add 10% of the Normalization Committee share of the gate proceeds to Asante Kotoko’s 30%.
“We are still waiting for Kotoko to rescind their decision before the due date for the game against Hearts of Oak”, he said.
“Adding 10% from the NC’s 30% to Kotoko’s gate proceeds in the semi final game against Hearts of Oak won’t be a bad idea so we will meet and deliberate on that because, we all want the betterment of Ghana football”
“I have the believe that the game(Hearts vs Kotoko) will come on because we are still sharing ideas as to how things should be done for Ghana football to move forward….I’m very positive that the Hearts vs Kotoko game will come on the exact date(June 16th 2019)”.
