If you thought Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang planned their reunion at Arsenal, you would be correct.
The latter has confirmed as much when he spoke to theArsenal Weekly Podcast.
The pair developed a strong bond both on and off the field while playing together at Borussia Dortmund. Mkhitaryan left for Manchester United in the summer of 2016, but he moved to the Emirates last month in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez.
It took longer for Aubameyang to join the club. And the Gabon international has revealed a discussion with Mkhitaryan played an important role in him moving to north London.
“It’s like [being reunited with] a brother, a good friend,” said Aubameyang.
“We played together in the past and I’m really happy to see him again.
“He called me a few times, he asked ‘will you come or not?’ I said ‘first you have to tell me if you sign or not’.
“He told me all was done and of course it was a big factor in coming here.”
