Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced that he will reinstate suspended Deputy Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzide to his post upon return to work on Monday, June 9 2018.
Speaking at the National Delegates Conference of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Saturday, the President revealed that the Minister had been exonerated after a Police CID probe into the circumstances that led to the arrest of some 60 Ghanaians who had allegedly posed as journalists to cover the Commonwealth games in Australia about three months ago.
“Yesterday, when I returned from my state trip in South Africa, I received a report on the Commonwealth Games which has exonerated the Deputy Sports Minister of any wrongdoing.
“I will lift his suspension on Monday when I return to post,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
Pius Hadzide and the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Robert Sarfo Mensah were on Thursday, April 12, 2018 suspended after preliminary investigations were conducted into the visa scandal.
