The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah has been defeated in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Hon Kwakye-Ackah lost the parliamentary primaries to business mogul Joana Gyan Cudjoe who is also the wife of Keche Joshua of Keche Music Group fame. Joana Gyan Cudjoe amassed 756 votes to win the election over Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah who bagged 575 votes. Other contestants were Paul Appiah who had 73 votes while Dr Karl Mark Arhin and Elijah Jones Appiah had 39 and 2 votes respectively.

Astute legal practitioner, Frederick Faidoo has been elected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Takoradi in the Western Region. Lawyer Faidoo as affectionately called by his followers bagged 558 votes during the party’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023. His competitor Emmanuel Donkoh managed to amass 427 votes at the end of the elections. Frederick Faidoo is expected to win the Takoradi seat for the NDC despite the constituency being an NPP stronghold.

Former Western Region Deputy Minister, Emelia Arthur has won the ticket to contest in the 2024 general elections as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Shama. She won the race with an overwhelming votes during the party’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Mrs Emelia Arthur accumulated 506 votes to defeat the three other contestants. He has been declared the winner during the party’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Armah Blay amassed 503 votes to defeat his competitor Samuel Bissah who had 307 votes despite touted as the favorite. He is expected to win the Sekondi seat for the NDC despite the constituency being an NPP stronghold.

Dr Kwabena Duffour, one of the candidates contesting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership position has withdrawn the interlocutory injunction against the party’s primaries.
