Legal practitioner, Nyamekye Armah Blay has been elected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Sekondi in the Western Region. He has been declared the winner during the party’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Armah Blay amassed 503 votes to defeat his competitor Samuel Bissah who had 307 votes despite touted as the favorite. He is expected to win the Sekondi seat for the NDC despite the constituency being an NPP stronghold.

The incumbent MP retained the slot during the party’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Dorcas Toffey had 1,574 of the total votes to defeat her competitor Francis Ackatia Kwaidoo who accumulated 175 votes. Renowned surgeon, Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah has been elected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Essikado-Ketan constituency in the Western Region. She was elected the parliamentary candidate during the party’s primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Dr Ayensu-Danquah accumulated 1,043 votes to win the contest ahead of Sebastian Spio-Garbrah and Henry Abbey-Hart who polled 85 and 18 votes respectively. Dr Kwabena Duffour, one of the candidates contesting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership position has withdrawn the interlocutory injunction against the party’s primaries.
