The National Sports Authority (NSA) has confirmed that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is ready to host football matches once again following recent renovations.
The stadium, located in Kumasi, Ghana, underwent a major refurbishment to improve its facilities and bring it up to international standards.
According to Patieno Adams, the National Sports Authority (NSA) in Kumasi’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi is ready to hold football games. Adams stated that all stadium renovations have been finished and the venue is now operational in an interview with Akoma FM. The stadium is still off-limits to the public, though, while they wait for formal approval from Accra authorities.
“All work at the Baba Yara Stadium is completed and ready to host any football events. However, we are awaiting clearance from our masters in Accra before the facility can be opened,” Adams explained.
For the people of Kumasi and sports enthusiasts, the reopening of Baba Yara Stadium marks an important turning point because it will soon allow the city to host important events. While Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi has now been adopted by Asante Kotoko, they can play their home games there, when the green light is given.
