The National Sports Authority boss Prof. Peter Twumasi has assured management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko that the Baba Yara pitch will improved before the team host their first group stage home game against ZESCO United.
This comes following a warning from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to Kotoko to improve the standard of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium particularly the pitch or faces a ban and their home matches forced to stage at a different venue as earlier reported to Kyfilla.com.
But according to the NSA Boss, who stated emphatically that major works will be done at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the pitch would also see much improvement before February 13 where Kotoko will be hosting ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup.
” Baba Yara Sports Stadium would be ready for Kotoko- ZESCO United clash”, he told Kumasi based Otec FM.
“We’ve seen the letter CAF presented to Kotoko concerning the pitch at the Baba Yara Stadium but I can assure all Kotoko fans that the pitch will be in good shape for the standard of CAF’s criteria.
“There’Il be lot of improvement on the pitch before Kotoko plays Zesco United on 13th February.
“There’II be major renovations at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium very soon but we will work on the pitch to meet CAF standard. CAF’s letter will encourage us to do more works on the stadium.
Kotoko- the only Ghanaian representative in the CAF inter-club competition begins their hunt for African glory as they lock horns with Sudanese giant Al Hilal on Sunday February 3 at the Hilal Stadium at 7:00PM in Sudan but 5:00PM in Ghana.
The team would then host ZESCO United in their second stages game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on February 13.
