Former Black Stars player Prince Tagoe has claimed Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s recent poor form maybe due to issues he had with Hearts Of Oak before departing.
Prince Tagoe believes that the issues Barnieh had with Accra Hearts of Oak before his departure to Switzerland is the reason for his poor form in recent times.
In order for Afriyie Barnieh to recapture the form that distinguished him as one of Ghana’s most promising young players, Tagoe encourages Barnieh to resolve any outstanding issues he may have with Hearts of Oak.
Since leaving for FC Zurich in Switzerland earlier this year, Barnieh has had trouble regaining his form. This was made clear following Ghana’s surprising group stage departure from the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, which prevented them from qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Barnieh failed to score or provide an assist in three games during that tournament.

Barnieh won two FA Cup trophies and the Ghana Premier League while playing for Hearts of Oak. He was recruited by the Swiss team FC Zurich due to his excellent form.

“I always say that how Barnieh left the club was not good. His goodbye to the club was not nice, so for me, if he wants to play at the top of his game again, then he should come and settle any issues with the club, if any,” Tagoe stated during an interview on Angel TV.
Even before he moved for FC Zurich, the 22-year-old was named to Ghana’s World Cup team for Qatar in 2022.
