Focus 1 Media subsidiary, Beach 105.5 FM has confirmed the capture of Ace Broadcaster, Ekow Essilfie; he will be hosting the sports shows in addition to the office of the station’s manager.
“The Ruler” as affectionately referred to is expected to increase the commercial barn as well as host the sports shows of the station.
Ekow Essilfie is known for his thought-provoking questions, the famous style of blending sports bulletin during the discussion segment and has garnered wide pool of network across the globe.
Ekow’s morning show on Melody was undoubtedly unmissable and anyone who did, hardly, did he/she forgive him/herself – together with a team of regular panel; Manucho Maghandi, the hard mouth Mr. Seth ‘Kofi’ Asiedu and Aaron Antwi – they easily carved the best sports show in the region.
But same can’t be said now, three years on and the once darling Melody 91.1 FM have waved bye to all the good about it.
Ekow Essilfie is leaving after 12 years at Melody FM and agreeably, he has served well and true.
However, it appears the wounds of Melody 91.1 FM won’t be healing soon; once the darling dial of urban radio in the Western Region looks to be ‘collapsing’ from the roof and gradually approaching the pit with rocket speed.
Ekow’s swoop strengthens Beach 105.5 FM – the once local station officially announced itself as an Urban station somewhere January 2017 – and usurped all urban stations in the metropolis to number one on GEOPOLL Ratings(Ghana Media Measurement Report) nearly a year and six months after switching from a local station.
Shockingly, Beach FM obliterated its operational policies which shot it to the apex of the GEOPOLL Ratings, those very policies used in its less than two years as urban radio. Hans Mensah Andoh, Sqny Agyekum Gyimah, Kwadwo Agyei Boakye and other top employees were either laid off, resigned or mutually ended stay – Beach FM seems to have found its way out with the capturing of Ekow Essilfie.
