Black Stars and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, discusses the challenges he experienced during a protracted injury absence that lasted almost five months.
Partey, an important member of both Arsenal and Ghana’s national team, had a difficult time with little games played. This season, the Gunners have only made six Premier League appearances with Partey making two of those appearances as a substitute after an injury.
Due to his injury, he was unable to participate in important club and national fixtures, such as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
But the Ghanaian midfielder kicked off his return with a quick appearance in Arsenal’s convincing 6-0 victory against Sheffield United on the road. He then made another appearance as a substitute against Brentford.
“It’s been difficult for me to be injured for a long time, but now I am ready to give everything I can to the club, Partey said, opening up about his rehabilitation process and his desire to help the squad succeed.I worked hard during my rehab to be able to come back to the level I need to be at.
Now I want to get back with the team. Last year we did so well, and came very close to what we wanted to achieve.
This year we have lots of big players and I know we are capable of doing big things,” he stated.
Partey’s resolve to have a big influence is a positive sign for Arsenal’s goals for the rest of the season as the club prepares for the obstacles that lie ahead.
