Residents of Effia-Kuma Frafra and Effia, suburbs in Takoradi in the Western region, are in celebratory mood thanks to footballer and philanthropist, Bernard Morrison for donating a mechanised boreholes with storage polytank worth hundreds of cedis on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
The Young Africans striker through his foundation handed over the borehole water facilities to the communities to ensure access to portable water to over 3,000 residents.
Speaking at a short ceremony, Bernard Morrison who has been in a blistering form for Young Africans since joining from Simba Sports Club said the donation is to mark the launch of his foundation which is aimed at giving hope to the less privileged and the needy in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and the Western region at large.
According to him, he saw the need to construct a mechanised boreholes for the two communities since residents obtained water by walking a mile from their community or drawing water from a nearby ditch.
He added that; “I’m very to help these communities to get access to portable water since it has been a herculean task for them. This is the little that I can do for them with the little that I have gotten from playing football.”
The drilling, mechanization, storage facility and construction of storage platform cost Bernard Morrison and his foundation over Gh¢57,000.
Before the donation, Bernard Morrison had launched his own foundation which he said, is committed to the education, health and solidarity of the youth in the region.
The former Hearts of Lions striker as part of activities to celebrate the yuletide, also made donations to orphanage homes, aged and the needy in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western region.

Dr. Fitzgerald Josiah Kwoffie; Board Member of BM3 Foundation, George Owu; former Black Stars goalkeeper, Joseph Hendricks; former Asante Kotoko captain, Abdul Yusif Basigi; Hasaacas Ladies head coach, John Antwi; Pyramids FC striker, Ebenezer Assifuah; former Ghana U-20 striker, Richard Ocran; former Nkana FC defender, Nana Kofi Egyir; former Karela United captain and host of others.
